Located in the Kuranda Heritage Markets this boutique wildlife attraction is home to an amazing array of some of Australia’s favourite creatures. Other than koalas, there’s kangaroos, pademelons, wallabys, wombats, possums, gliders, bettongs and quokkas – and that’s just our furry friends. Our lagoon is home to several freshwater crocodiles and there’s numerous other reptiles here, including a diverse array of pythons, water dragons, lizards, geckos, monitors and turtles. Kuranda Koala Gardens can be explored in a series of ‘zones’ and includes interactive spaces where you can feed the kangaroos and wallabys.
Kuranda Koala Gardens features an Aussie Bush Collection and is the only attraction in the Tablelands to have a nocturnal exhibit, which allows visitors to see some night-loving marsupials, such as the Greater Bilby, Northern Bettong and Mahogany Glider in action. Staffed by passionate local people who are delighted and excited to share information and insights into the many critters that live here. Open 9.30am – 4pm daily.
